Fun Facts

July 26, 2018

With all the Financial info I have been putting out, it has been brought to my attention that many clients love the other less financial info that I read in my financial news daily. (And for those that love the financial gibberish, I have that at the bottom!)

I wrote down 3 non-financials, to share this month:

-Heart Attacks occur most often on Monday's

-The Bible is the most shoplifted book in the world. (Wow that is bad karma waiting to happen)

-There are more English speaking people in China than the US. (Just basic math I guess)

I have not checked the sources sited in the articles but I have heard these all before.

Now for the 3 Financial bites:

1. According to U-Haul, the cost of renting a one way box truck from Las Vegas, NV to San Jose CA is only $174 this summer...YET renting for one way from San Jose to Vegas is a whopping $2,000. Why, everyone is leaving high tax CA and more trucks are needed in San Jose, less are needed in Nevada. It's just Econ 101, supply and demand!

2. 45 states collect sales tax, 5 do not: Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon do not. A little trick clients taught me...they live in Washington State with no income tax, and they work and shop across the river in Oregon and avoid sales tax. Hopefully these states won't start a trade war!

3. If in the beginning of 2018, you bought the 10 WORST stocks from the S+P in 2017, they are up over 18% YTD through 6/30/18. (BTN Research)
